Celebrating the 250th anniversary of America's Independence!

The 2026 show will be fired from the South Jetty and performed by professional fireworks technicians from Zambelli Fireworks.

TEST SHOT: Fired between 8:30-8:45 p.m.

SHOW START: Begins between 9-9:15 p.m.

DURATION: Between 20-25 minutes

WEATHER: The City continues to monitor potential weather impacts for July 4. If rain continues throughout the day, the show may be delayed. The latest the show will fire from on July 4 is 10:30 p.m. If severe weather, such as lightning, becomes persistent or unsafe, the show may be tentatively rescheduled to Sunday, July 5. Monitor the City's Facebook page for day-of announcements.

BURN BAN: The citywide burn ban issued in April 2025 remains in place because of the extreme drought conditions and elevated wildfire danger we're continuing to experience. Starting a wildfire with personal fireworks isn't an accident. It's preventable. One firework, one sparkler, or one ember landing in dry grass is all it takes to ignite a brush fire that threatens homes, businesses, wildlife, and the firefighters who respond. Leave it to the professionals, or choose flame-free fun like LED glow sticks, glow necklaces, bubbles, patriotic decorations, yard games, or other non-pyrotechnic activities.

The City of Venice and the city's fireworks vendor, Zambelli, are not responsible for any damages that may occur to your vehicle, vessel, belongings, or persons. Heed all safety warnings, directions from staff and officers, and stay clear of the blast and fall-out areas.

The City of Venice annual Fourth of July Fireworks display will be visible from many beachside locations in Venice, with fireworks reaching average heights of 150 feet with a maximum height of 600 feet, and will be visible from most beach locations and area parks. Humphris Park and the South Jetty remain closed due to catastrophic damage from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. There is no public access in this area past Inlet Circle. Fireworks Technicians and Venice Fire Rescue personnel will be staged at the jetty for the duration of the show.

Saturday, July 4	All Day	Tarpon Center Drive at Inlet Circle is closed to general traffic. Local residents and Crow's Nest reservations only. The area will have an officer onsite to assist with traffic flow and congestion.

Before heading out on the water:

Designate a sober boat operator and share your float plan with a trusted person
Have your license and boat registration in a dry and accessible location
Ensure each passenger on board has a proper fitting U.S. Coast Guard-approved life vest
Have a working kill switch, anchor light, navigational lights, VHF marine radio, fire extinguisher, and signal devices
Top-off fuel levels and check for boat plug before hitting the water
Know your inclement weather plan

Before you go, check the latest weather forecasts and share your float plan, and replace batteries in weather radio and lightning detection system
While on the water, continually watch the skies for developing or approaching thunderstorms
When the store approaches, stop all activities and take action to get back shore immediately
If unable to, lower antennas, pull in fishing lines, keep arms and legs inside the boat, and close the cabin if possible, avoid making contact with metal and control systems

Pack-In-Pack-Out

The City is working in partnership with Mote Marine Laboratory’s Turtle Patrol and Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources, Keep Sarasota County Beautiful, and Venice Area Beautification Inc. to ensure a minimally disruptive experience for local sea turtles.

Do your part by packing-out everything you pack-in including trash, recyclables, discarded umbrellas, chairs or tents. Trash bins are located at dune lines and parking areas. Don't forget to fill in holes on the beach before you leave.

Volunteers are needed July 5! Venice Area Beautification Inc. and Keep Sarasota County Beautiful are coordinating the Liberty Litter Cleanup on Sunday, July 5, from Venice Beach to Caspersen Beach. Sign up by July 2 to help keep our beaches clean and beautiful.

Pets and fireworks

Many people enjoy the booming sounds and flashing colors of fireworks, but they can be terrifying, overwhelming⁠ and hazardous for both wild and domestic animals. Here are some tips to help keep your pet safe this week:

Update your pet's ID tag and microchip with your contact info
Take a current photo of your pet, in case they get or escape
Keep pets inside, close doors, garage doors, fences and gates
Give pets toys, treats, and other distractions
Consult your veterinarian

Don't forget to also keep pets away from grills, matches or lighters and watch for signs and symptoms of head-related injury. Never leave your pet in a vehicle.

Firework alternatives

BURN BAN: Florida law (Florida Statute 791.08) strictly prohibits the personal use of fireworks that fly through the air or explode — such as Roman candles, firecrackers, and bottle rockets — except on three designated holidays: New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, and Independence Day.

However, when local drought conditions create an elevated fire risk and a burn ban is issued, those restrictions can supersede the holiday allowance, making personal fireworks use illegal even on July 4. Residents should always check for active burn bans and local restrictions before using fireworks. The City of Venice burn ban issued on April 19, 2026 remains in effect.

The City of Venice Fourth of July fireworks display undergoes extensive planning, review, and approval by the Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, and City Manager in coordination with licensed professional fireworks vendors. Fire mitigation and public safety measures are implemented before, during, and after the display to help protect the community, nearby properties, and natural resources.

Personal fireworks can be dangerous, scary, and harmful to pets, people, and property. Leave the pyrotechnics to the professionals and celebrate this July 4th with one of these alternatives instead:

PTSD and fireworks

Fireworks can be a trauma reminder for those who served in combat or went through a fire, explosion or gun violence.

Whether expected or unexpected, fireworks can cause distress. Here are some tips and tricks for managing your post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms:

Avoid drinking alcohol
Consider wearing earplugs or noise-canceling headphones
Try box breathing or grounding technique by inhaling 4 counts, holding 4 counts, exhaling 4 counts, holding 4 counts, and repeat
Remind yourself you are safe and the situation is temporary
Rely on your support network and talk with your physician
Ask the host to use firework alternatives

History of Venice's July 4th Fireworks

The City of Venice first celebrated Independence Day in 1926 with a three-day water carnival.

Through the 1930s, Venice celebrated the 4th of July with patriotic exercises, fish fry, contests, a baseball game, and a dance.
In the late 1950s, Venice introduced firework displays in partnership with community partners, donors and sponsors and has continued the tradition ever since.
In 2023 and 2024, more than 12,000 residents and visitors gathered along Venice area beaches and waterways to view the annual Fourth of July fireworks display, with viewing extending from Nokomis Beach south to Caspersen Beach.
The 2025 display was temporarily relocated to South Brohard Beach, and shot over the beach/Gulf areas, due to hurricane-related impacts to the South Jetty site. This location required extensive coordination with Sarasota County, MOTE, FDEP, and FWC as the beach show occured during sea turtle nesting season, as well as with the Venice Municipal Airport and FAA to issue a NOTAM, as the fireworks entered the protected airspace.

For 2026, the fireworks display will return to its traditional launch location at the South Jetty. This site allows for a larger blast safety area, enhanced operational coordination, and expanded viewing opportunities along Venice area beaches and waterways.
