Humphris Park and the South Jetty remain closed due to catastrophic damage from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. There is no public access in this area past Inlet Circle. Fireworks Technicians and Venice Fire Rescue personnel will be staged for the duration of the show. 

Give space to marked sea turtle nests! Do not hang any towels, swim suits or other beach items from stakes or tape marking nesting areas. Remember to fill in holes and take any trash or discarded chairs, umbrellas or tents with you before you leave. 

SATURDAY, JULY 4

Before heading out on the water:

• Designate a sober boat operator and share your float plan with a trusted person 
• Have your license and boat registration in a dry and accessible location 
• Ensure each passenger on board has a proper fitting U.S. Coast Guard-approved life vest
• Have a working kill switch, anchor light, navigational lights, VHF marine radio, fire extinguisher, and signal devices 
• Top-off fuel levels and check for boat plug before hitting the water 
• Know your inclement weather plan 

Inclement weather plan:

• Before you go, check the latest weather forecasts and share your float plan, and replace batteries in weather radio and lightning detection system
• While on the water, continually watch the skies for developing or approaching thunderstorms
• When the store approaches, stop all activities and take action to get back shore immediately
• If unable to, lower antennas, pull in fishing lines, keep arms and legs inside the boat, and close the cabin if possible, avoid making contact with metal and control systems

The City is working in partnership with Mote Marine Laboratory’s Turtle Patrol and Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources, Keep Sarasota County Beautiful, and Venice Area Beautification Inc. to ensure a minimally disruptive experience for local sea turtles.

Do your part by packing-out everything you pack-in including trash, recyclables, discarded umbrellas, chairs or tents. Trash bins are located at dune lines and parking areas. Don't forget to fill in holes on the beach before you leave. 

Volunteers are needed July 5! Venice Area Beautification Inc. and Keep Sarasota County Beautiful are coordinating the Liberty Litter Cleanup on Sunday, July 5, from Venice Beach to Caspersen Beach. Sign up by July 2 to help keep our beaches clean and beautiful.

Fireworks can be a trauma reminder for those who served in combat or went through a fire, explosion or gun violence.

Whether expected or unexpected, fireworks can cause distress. Here are some tips and tricks for managing your post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms:

• Avoid drinking alcohol
• Consider wearing earplugs or noise-canceling headphones
• Try box breathing or grounding technique by inhaling 4 counts, holding 4 counts, exhaling 4 counts, holding 4 counts, and repeat
• Remind yourself you are safe and the situation is temporary
• Rely on your support network and talk with your physician
• Ask the host to use firework alternatives

A Temporary Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) will be in effect before, during, and shortly after the fireworks display. Pilots are advised to avoid the airspace around Venice Municipal Airport and North Brohard Beach launch area during this period for the safety of all air traffic and event attendees.
