UPDATE 11.13.19: Application process closed for 2020

Due to an overwhelming amount of applications received, the City of Venice is no longer accepting applications for the 2020 Citizens University. Qualified applicants who were not selected for the 2020 class will be placed on a wait list, and contacted in the event any chosen applicants withdraw from the program prior to the Jan. 15, 2020, start date. Information on applying for the 2021 Citizens University will be released in late 2020. Citizens who have already submitted applications will be notified by Nov. 25 if they have been selected for the 2020 class.

What is it?

What to expect?

Citizens University is a free eight-week program running every Wednesday from 1-3:30 p.m., January 15, 2020, through March 4, 2020. Open to participants who live or work in the City of Venice. Participants will meet City staff from various departments and learn about what their department does, providing citizens with the ability to ask questions. Some weeks will be offsite while other classes will be at Venice City Hall, located at 401 W. Venice Ave.

Graduation Cap GraphicA more detailed course schedule will be provided to those accepted to the program, which is limited to 25 participants. Deadline to register for this program is December 13, 2019.
