Project Background:

The City operates a potable water wellfield to supply raw water to the Reverse Osmosis  Water Treatment Plant (WTP). There are currently 14 wells that make up the wellfield system, with a 15th well currently in construction. The wells are rotated every week to protect and maximize each well’s water production capacity. This further ensures the City’s water supply capacity is maintained and readily available to support future growth. This rotation keeps approximately half the wells in service at any given time depending on the City’s current water demand.  Over time, wells will be taken off-line for rehabilitation and to recover the original production capacity.  Construction of the new water well 10E will provide the system with greater reliability and operational flexibility for the City to meet future water demands.

The City  has already identified a location for the well In a proposed development  located at the SE corner of N. Auburn Rd and Border Rd. For connection into the existing wellfield system, approximately 600 LF of 12-inch raw water transmission main and fiber optic conduit with cable will also be extended within the right-of-way.

Project Benefits:

The construction of Well RO-8E will provide greater capacity, reliability and operational flexibility in meeting the future water demands of the City.

Project Status:

Preliminary planning has commenced and is waiting on Developer’s proposed Plat plan to determine the exact location the well can be sited on the property.
