Home MenuWater Main Replacement Program - Phase 8
Project Background:
Residential and business lots in this area of the City are provided water service from small diameter tuberculated water mains, resulting in decreased service pressure to customers. In order to improve customer water service and lessen issues associated with maintaining the mains, the City implemented a program replace aging new water mains, upsizing where necessary, and connecting customer meters to the new City water mains. The project also includes replacing old fire hydrants and adding new where needed, relocating existing water services and meters that are currently in difficult locations for City staff to maintain, and construction of gravity sewer improvements while the road is tore up. A small portion of this phase was included in the City's Tarpon Center Drive Seawall Replacement Project to avoid digging up the new roadway from that project.
Project Benefits:
This project will increase the level of service for residents and business owners in this area by improving water quality and increasing domestic and fire protection water pressure in the distribution system. This project also reduces the potential for emergency water shut-downs and provides better access for infrastructure operation and maintenance, and affords the City a significant cost savings in annual repairs for this area.
