Many special events are held in the city of Venice throughout the year. Some of the most popular are the Sun Fiesta, Shark's Tooth Festival, Venice MainStreet Art Festivals, Beach Bash, Chalk Festival, Blues Festival, Holiday Parade, Christmas Boat Parade, Rotary Art Fest, Suncoast BBQ Bash and the Italian Feast and Carnival. The Saturday morning Venice Farmers Market has a regular following.
Special events must be approved by City Council. The Planning & Zoning Department then issues a permit allowing them to take place on public right of way.
The gazebo in Centennial Park is a popular place for weddings and concerts. Reservations are scheduled through the City Manager's Office. Sunset beach weddings, concerts in the park, arts and crafts shows, and the downtown strolls are part of city’s unique charm.
To schedule a special event, or for more information, call Assistant City Manager Len Bramble at 941-882-7397 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sarasota County issues permits for Venice Beach, Brohard Beach, Maxine Barritt Park, Patriots Park, the Venice Train Depot, Venice Community Center and several other parks located within the city.
