Stormwater certifications are completed each year for privately maintained stormwater systems. Certifications for each fiscal year are due by June 30th, to be submitted to the Engineering Department. Doing so will secure your Stormwater O&M Fee discount for the following year. If your property does not receive the Stormwater O&M Fee discount, submitting the certification by June 30 will get you the discount. Download the Stormwater Inspection Report Form and submit to crimes@venicefl.gov and jcreamer@venicefl.gov. Submitted forms can also be mailed to 401 W. Venice Ave., Venice, FL 34285.

Alternatively, completed Southwest Florida Water Management District Statement of Inspection for Proper Operation and Maintenance forms will also be accepted.

The inspection and certification form shall be completed by a professional engineer licensed in the state of Florida, or by the person/company that maintains the property in cases where the subject property is:

(1) Less than one-half acre in size; or,

(2) Less than one acre in size and designated as a medical or office property use, according to the Sarasota County Property Appraiser.

Please include your property’s facility name and permit number(s) on the Stormwater Inspection Report Form. If you do not know your property’s facility name and permit number(s), please refer to the postcard reminder sent by the City each March/April. If you do not have this postcard, call Christina Rimes at 941-882-7412.

If you have any questions, please contact the City Engineering Department at (941) 882-7412 or email crimes@venicefl.gov or jcreamer@venicefl.gov. Certifications can also be emailed.

Who certifies an overall master system? The owner's association is responsible for hiring an engineer to certify the master system.
