Flamingo Ditch is a low-lying, natural land feature on the Gulf coast in the City of Venice. Due to a history of flooding in the area surrounding Flamingo Ditch, Coastal Protection and Engineering, Inc. (CPE) was contracted by the City of Venice in 2024 to develop the Flamingo Ditch Feasibility Study. The study includes review of previous studies and existing data, existing model evaluation and refinements, public meetings to gain input for historical context and local observations, numerical modeling of the study area, and an analysis of conceptual alternatives for reducing flooding potential to provide City officials with a science-based assessment to support decision making for the future.
