The Floodplain Management Plan is a planning and guidance document prepared by City Staff and approved by the CRS Committee. Its purpose is to identify flood risks, prioritize mitigation actions, protect lives and property, and strengthen the community’s resilience to flooding and other natural hazards. It is not a regulatory document like the City Code of Ordinances or the Florida Building Code.

The current Floodplain Management Plan update kick-off meeting was on 8/4/26. The CRS Committee is responsible for updating the plan and will be meeting on 11/3/26, 2/2/27, 5/4/27, 8/3/27, 11/2/27, and 2/1/28 to discuss the different sections of the plan. The CRS Committee meets quarterly and no additional meetings are needed at this time. 

Check on this page periodically for updates and drafts of the plan.  A survey is being conducted to solicit public feedback. Answers are confidential. The CRS Committee (Community Rating System) was created in order to address specific target audiences in order to more effectively evaluate the current outreach activities and to recommend areas of improvement to be incorporated into the plan documents. The Committee is made up of staff and public stakeholders.
