Venice City Hall and other City facilities will be closed Friday, July 3 for the observance of the Independence Day holiday. Garbage, yard waste and recyclables will be collected as usual July 3. Residents are reminded to have all materials to the curb by 7 a.m.
In the event of Utilities service emergencies like a water line break, residents can call 941-486-2770. This line is designated for emergencies only. City Hall will reopen to the public at 8 a.m. Monday, July 6.
As the nation marks America’s 250th anniversary and the City of Venice celebrates its Centennial year, the community is invited to a full day of patriotic festivities on Saturday, July 4.
Activities include a morning parade downtown at 9:30 a.m.; community picnic at 11 a.m. at the Venice Community Center and West Blalock Park in partnership with Venice MainStreet Inc.; and evening fireworks display at 9 p.m. shot from Humphris Park at the South Jetty. The fireworks will be visible at locations from Venice Beach to Caspersen. Please arrive early to secure your spot.
