Venice Museum new seasonal photo exhibit now open

Post Date:01/16/2026 11:09 AM

In conjunction with the City of Venice’s Centennial Celebration, the Venice Museum is proud to present its newest seasonal photo exhibit: The Grover Koons Collection: Constructing Venice, running from Feb. 2, 2026, through Jan. 20, 2027.

This temporary exhibit features the work of Grover Koons, a professional photographer who was hired exactly 100 years ago by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE) to document the construction of the City of Venice in 1926. Photos from his collection show the progress of the BLE’s dream of a beautiful and profitable City on the Gulf.

The exhibit is in a series of free educational history exhibits at the Venice Museum that will showcase Venice’s origins as part of the City’s 18-month Centennial Celebration, from November 2025 to May 2027.

The Venice Museum is located inside the historic Triangle Inn, listed in both the Venice Register of Historical Resources and the National Registers of Historic Places. The museum is open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and the first and third Saturdays in October through April from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For more information about the exhibit, contact the museum at 941-486-2487 or visit venicemuseum.org.
