Utilities Intracoastal Second Force Main Project

Post Date:06/23/2025 3:11 PM

The City of Venice Utilities Intracoastal Second Force Main Project involves the construction of a second 16-inch wastewater force main under the Intracoastal Waterway from the intersection of Florida St. and American Legion Way to the intersection of E. Venice Ave. and Warfield Ave., and an extension of an additional 24-inch gravity sewer within N. Warfield Ave. and Calle Del Torro. This force main will convey wastewater more reliably off Venice island to the City’s master lift station on Calle Del Torro. New water and sewer service lines will be installed to a handful of properties where conflicts with the proposed sewer main are anticipated.

Beginning the week of June 23, 2025, contractor Spectrum Underground Inc. will begin construction activities that will require partial lane and full street closures periodically to complete the proposed work. Continuous one-lane access for local traffic will be maintained to the maximum extent possible.

Please note: Large equipment and machinery will be in the road rights-of-way. Motorists are to follow posted traffic control signs. Please drive slowly, use caution, and watch out for pedestrians and workers.

The contract completion date is March 20, 2026. Weather or unforeseen circumstances may result in an extension of the completion date. Updates will be posted on the News section of the City website, located on the bottom of the home page at venicegov.com.

The Utilities Department appreciates your patience during this project to update City infrastructure and improve the safety and quality of life for years to come.
