Downtown Beautification Update 4/10
Below and attached is the Downtown Venice Beautification Update for Wednesday, April 10:
PAVING SCHEDULED NEXT WEEK
Crews are scheduled to pave westbound W. Venice Avenue and Miami Avenue (200 and 300 blocks), and Nassau Street between W. Venice Avenue and Miami Avenue. Work is scheduled for OVERNIGHT from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m., Monday night, April 15 - Thursday morning, April 18. These blocks will be open to vehicles during the day.
THE CITY ASKS THAT ALL VEHICLES BE MOVED FROM ON-STREET PARKING SPOTS PRIOR TO 10 P.M.
PHASE II - NOKOMIS AVENUE DRAINAGE PROJECT
Crews continue underground work on Nokomis Avenue from south of Tampa Avenue to Pensacola Avenue. Currently eastbound W. Venice Avenue is closed at Nokomis Avenue. Nokomis Avenue from Tampa Avenue south to Pensacola Avenue will remain closed through mid-June with travel lanes opening whenever possible. To access the alley north of W. Venice Avenue, motorists should use the Tampa Avenue entrance. To access the alley south of W. Venice Avenue, motorists should use Miami Avenue or Nassau Street.
THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT
Crews are installing aggregate around the trees along the road and ADA features at crosswalks. The contractor continues to work on punch list items throughout the project. In the next couple of weeks crews will install the lighting for the crosswalks on W. Venice Avenue. Motorists should expect single lane closures (with the exception of Nokomis Avenue, which will be fully closed) to allow crews to safely work.
This schedule is subject to change due to weather and unforeseen underground conditions.
