Downtown Beautification Update 3/14
Below is the Downtown Venice Beautification Update for Thursday, March 14, 2019:
ALL DOWNTOWN ROADS ARE CURRENTLY OPEN!
Crews are installing landscaping, sod, bike racks, and waste receptacles throughout downtown. Over the next few weeks, the contractor will be placing the aggregate material around the trees and installing the mid-block lighted crosswalks on W. Venice Avenue. Motorists should continue to expect single lane closures throughout the project to allow crews to safely work.
PHASE II - NOKOMIS AVENUE DRAINAGE SCHEDULED TO BEGIN
City Council has approved Phase II, the Nokomis Drainage portion of the Downtown Beautification Project. The structures are on order, and crews will begin excavation for the drainage project in approximately 2-3 weeks. The contractor will continue work on the Downtown Beautification Project while awaiting delivery of these materials.
The final schedule is being prepared for additional work on Nokomis Avenue between Tampa and Pensacola. Plans are to complete the final lift of paving on W. Venice Avenue (westbound), Miami and Nokomis Avenues once the added drainage, curb/gutter, sidewalk and road reconstruction is completed in late May or early June.
