Downtown Beautification Update 1/31
Below is the Downtown Venice Beautification Update for Jan. 31, 2019:
Tampa Avenue is currently CLOSED to through traffic from US 41 Business to Harbor Drive.
This week, vehicles may still access the alley across from the Venice Theatre while crews begin underground drainage work. The contractor anticipates fully closing this block late next week. To access Tampa Avenue businesses, motorists should use Nassau Streetto St. Augustine Avenue or Santa Maria Street. Next week, crews anticipate sidewalk and curb removal on the 100 block. On the 200 block, crews continue drainage, sidewalk, and irrigation installation, as well as roadway work. On the 300 block, crews continue curb and sidewalk installation and roadway work. The contractor expects to open the 300 block of Tampa Avenue to LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY in mid-February.
Nassau Street is open to provide north/south circulation for vehicles. The contractor will resume work on Nassau Street once other areas are opened to vehicles.
Nokomis Avenue is open to LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY from W. Venice Avenue to the alley entrance just south of Tampa Avenue. To access businesses on Nokomis Avenue north of Tampa Avenue, motorists should use Santa Maria Street.
W. VENICE AVENUE
Installation of large palms in the median is scheduled to begin next week. Following large palm installation, the pedestrian fence will be modified to a single row. Once the fence is completed, the smaller shrubs will be planted. Crews also continue installing the plant hanger poles and electric. Motorists should expect the inside lanes closed on W. Venice Avenue closed for the contractor to complete this work.
The aggregate for around the tree bases is on order. Once the aggregate is installed, the contractor will remove the barricades around the trees.
