Garbage, yard waste and recyclables will be collected as usual.

Downtown Beautification Update 12/20

Below is the Downtown Venice Beautification Update for Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018.

A public meeting is also set for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, in Council Chambers at Venice City Hall, where there will be a project update and details for work on Tampa Ave.

ALL ROADS IN DOWNTOWN VENICE ARE SCHEDULED TO BE OPEN FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

Crews will be spending well-deserved time with their families over the holidays and will return Jan. 2, 2019.

W. VENICE AVENUE

The pedestrian fence is scheduled to be installed in the median in early 2019, with irrigation and landscaping to follow. Both directions of W. Venice Avenue are open to traffic and most of the on-street parking will be available over the holidays. Once crews return in January, motorists should expect single lane closures for crews to safely continue paver and landscape installation.  Amenities such as benches and trash cans will be installed in early 2019. 

MIAMI AVENUE

Miami12.18.18The 100 block is open to two-way traffic and the 200 block is expected to be open to two-way traffic before the weekend. The mid-block crosswalk is shifted slightly to the east to allow for drainage work. The parking lots on the north side of the street and most on-street parking will be available over the holidays. Once crews return in January, motorists should expect single lane closures for crews to safely work.

TAMPA AVENUE

The contractor is scheduled to begin work on Tampa Avenue on Jan. 2, 2019. The initial work will be just west of the Nokomis Avenue intersection, in the 200 block. The City plans to allow two-way traffic on St. Augustine to provide access and circulation around the closure. Project representatives will be visiting individual properties Thursday, Dec. 27 to discuss specific access and private property concerns.

NASSAU STREET

Once crews return in January, Nassau Street from Tampa Avenue to W. Venice Avenue will be closed for drainage work. This includes the entrance to Centennial Park from Nassau Street.

NOKOMIS AVENUE

In January, Nokomis Avenue will be accessible from Tampa Avenue (westbound) and W. Venice Avenue.
