Downtown Beautification Update 12/5

Below is the Downtown Venice Beautification Project Update for Dec. 5, 2018.

EASTBOUND W. VENICE AVENUE                                                                                                                                                        Amenities such as benches and trash cans will be installed in early 2019.

VENICE AVENUE                                                                                                              Crews are stabilizing the road in preparation for paving. The sidewalk nears completion on the north side of W. Venice Avenue. The curb installation on the north side of the 100 block is underway. Crews are installing palms on the north side of W. Venice Avenue. The contractor anticipates westbound W. Venice Avenue opening to vehicles prior to Christmas.  

MiamiAve_12.5.18MIAMI AVENUE
Crews are finishing the final segment of sidewalks on the 200 block this week.  The mid-block crosswalk is anticipated to be open for the shopping event on Thursday evening.  The contractor is now removing and replacing the curb in this area.  The 200 block of Miami Avenue is closed to vehicles, however the parking lots can be accessed through the alley.  The Contractor is scheduled to open the street to vehicles by Christmas.  
 
NASSAU STREET/NOKOMIS AVENUE
Nassau Street and Nokomis Avenue from W. Venice Avenue through the intersections at Miami Avenue remain open to traffic.  Nokomis Avenue and Nassau Street from Tampa Avenue to W. Venice Avenue are currently open to LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY.

TAMPA AVENUE                                                                                                                                                                                            The contractor anticipates work to begin on Tampa Avenue in early 2019.

FOR EVERYONE’S SAFETY, PEDESTRIANS ARE URGED TO USE  DESIGNATED CROSSWALKS AND AVOID THE WORK ZONE.
