Downtown Beautification Update 11/20
Below please find the Downtown Venice Beautification Update for Nov. 20, 2018.
EASTBOUND W. VENICE AVENUE
EASTBOUND W. VENICE AVENUE IS OPEN! Crews will continue finish work on the south side of the road as the project progresses.
WESTBOUND W. VENICE AVENUE
Crews continue working on the 200 and 300 blocks of westbound W. Venice Avenue. This week, vehicles may continue to use westbound W. Venice Avenue from US Business 41 to access parking at Centennial Park. The contractor anticipates closing the 100 block of westbound W. Venice Avenue to vehicles the week after Thanksgiving. Once this segment is closed, the Centennial Park parking lot will be accessible only from Tampa Avenue and Nassau Street. Sidewalk on the 300 block from Nassau Street to the Bank of America driveway is expected to be replaced next week. The contractor anticipates westbound W. Venice Avenue opening to vehicles prior to Christmas.
THE 300 BLOCK OF MIAMI AVENUE IS SCHEDULED TO BE OPEN BY THE WEEKEND! Paving is underway on the 300 block. Crews are installing tree cells and electrical conduit on the 200 block. The contractor has tentatively scheduled to remove/replace the sidewalk on the south side of the 200 block the week after Thanksgiving. Project PIO Jennifer Dorning will be talking to businesses individually this week. Next, the contractor is scheduled to replace the curb. The 200 block of Miami Avenue is closed to vehicles; however, the parking lots can be accessed through the alley. The contractor is scheduled to open the street to vehicles by Christmas.
NASSAU STREET/NOKOMIS AVENUE
Crews have paved Nassau Street and Nokomis Avenue from W. Venice Avenue through the intersections at Miami Avenue. These blocks are scheduled to be open to traffic by the weekend. Nokomis Avenue from Tampa Avenue to W. Venice Avenue is currently open to LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY.
Venice Holiday Parade-goers on Saturday, Nov. 24 should be aware you will likely experience delays leaving the area during or after the parade due to road closures and the beautification project. Your patience is appreciated.
