Downtown Beautification Update 11/14

EASTBOUND W. VENICE AVENUE
WVeniceAve2_11.13.18Eastbound W. Venice Avenue is scheduled to be paved by Thanksgiving. All trees and pavers have been installed on the south side of W. Venice Avenue. The bases for the plant hangers have also been installed.

 

WESTBOUND W. VENICE AVENUE
WVeniceAve7_11.13.18The 200 block of westbound W. Venice Avenue from just west of Nokomis Avenue to Nassau Street is currently closed to vehicles. Crews will also close the 300 block of westbound W. Venice Avenue today. Crews will concentrate work in this area and leave the 100 block of westbound W. Venice Avenue open to vehicles as long as possible, also providing access to the Centennial Park parking lot from westbound W. Venice Avenue. Sidewalk on the 100 block is completed. The sidewalk on the 300 block is expected to be replaced this weekend. Crews will be cleaning up the 100 block of westbound W. Venice Avenue prior to Thanksgiving. The contractor anticipates westbound W. Venice Avenue opening to vehicles prior to Christmas.

 

MIAMI AVENUE
Miami1_11.13.18Paving for the 300 block is scheduled to occur after the paving on eastbound W. Venice Avenue is completed. Crews continue concrete work on the 200 block. Several trees have been installed on the south side of Miami and this work will continue next week as tree cells are completed. Sidewalk removal/replacement on the south side of the 200 block is expected to occur after Thanksgiving. The 200 block of Miami Avenue is closed to vehicles, however the parking lots can be accessed through the alley. The Contractor is scheduled to open the street to vehicles by Christmas.

 

NASSAU STREET/NOKOMIS AVENUE
Today crews are paving the Miami/Nokomis avenues intersection in preparation for the Holiday Parade on Nov. 24.

 

MEDIAN LANDSCAPING
Median landscaping is scheduled to occur after the median fence is installed and irrigation is operational.
