Florida Friendly Landscaping Program at City Hall 10/17

FlaFriendlyDesignThe City of Venice is hosting a Florida Friendly Landscaping Program from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 401 W. Venice Ave. Florida Friendly Landscaping can help you get a healthy, beautiful landscape that protects and preserves our natural resources while saving you time and money.

Join Dr. Pat Williams and Wilma Holley from UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County to learn the 9 principles behind a great landscape: Right Plant, Right Place; Water Efficiently; Mulch; Recycle; Fertilize Appropriately; Control Pests Responsibly; Reduce Stormwater Runoff; Provide Wildlife Habitat; and Protect the Waterfront.

This presentation is free and open to the public. Informational handouts will be provided.

This program is part of City Council’s directive for the City to develop an educational program for citizens on fertilizer usage, effects, and reduction methods.
