Rowing Regatta on 9/15 to shut down ICW
The Battle of the Bridges Rowing Regatta is set for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Historic Venice Train Depot.
Traveling 5000m through the heart of Venice on the Intracoastal Waterway, athletes will have to use their strength, skill and teamwork to maneuver boats under 3 bridges. You can join the excitement along the Legacy Trail or Venetian Waterway Park.
Due to the Regatta, the Intracoastal Waterway will be closed to ALL vessel traffic Saturday, Sept. 15 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. (See below map.) Along with the ICW closure, the Venice Marine Park Boat Ramp will be closed as well. The dates of the Marine Park closure will be from Friday, Sept 14 at 12:01 a.m. through Saturday, Sept. 15, reopening at 7 p.m. Any vessel traffic needing to travel north in the ICW will need to proceed through Stump Pass to the Gulf of Mexico, and any vessels traveling south will need to proceed through the Venice Inlet. Please note that no vehicular traffic will be impacted, nor will any bridge openings within the City of Venice during the event hours. Please plan accordingly.
The Battle of the Bridges Regatta is a USRowing sanctioned event, so Rules of Rowing will be used to ensure a fair, safe, and fun regatta.
Battle of the Bridges, hosted by the Sarasota Scullers, is open to High School and Master Programs.
Free to all spectators!
