Downtown Beautification Update 8/17
Below is the Downtown Venice Beautification Project weekly update for Aug. 17, 2018:
W. Venice Avenue
Westbound W. Venice Avenue is open to vehicles. Next week, crews are scheduled to begin curb work on eastbound W. Venice Avenue. Crews also continue electrical conduit installation and preparations for landscape installation along the south side of the road. The contractor is moving toward sidewalk replacement on eastbound W. Venice Avenue. This work is tentatively scheduled to occur from Harbor Drive to the east. As more information is finalized, Jennifer Dorning, Project Public Information Officer, will coordinate with businesses individually.
Miami Avenue, from Harbor Drive to Nassau Street, remains closed to vehicles in both directions for approximately one more week for crews finish underground work in this segment. The alley behind W. Venice Avenue remains open and vehicles can reach it from both Miami Avenue and Nassau Street. Crews are scheduled to move to the 100 block next.
Sidewalks remain open and mid-block crosswalks are available from parking areas throughout downtown. All crossings are ADA accessible. No work is scheduled over the Labor Day Holiday.
Next Saturday, Aug. 25, is the 1st Annual Barstool Open from 12-5 p.m. Grab some friends and come putt-putt through 9 holes in your favorite spots throughout downtown! And mark your calendars for the Downtown Craft Festival on Saturday, Sept. 1 and Sunday, Sept. 2 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. near City Hall at 401 W. Venice Ave.
