Removal of Brohard Park dune walkovers set for Jan. 17
Sarasota County Government, in cooperation with the City of Venice, will be removing three dune walkovers located at Brohard Park – Sharky’s North Annex – Robert E. Clark Pavilion, located at 1600 S. Harbor Dr., Venice.
Visitors to the beach will still be able to access the beach during this work.
Due to structural concerns it has been jointly determined that removal of these walkovers is necessary. The appropriate state and local permits for this project are in order. County staff anticipates that the project will start on Wednesday, Jan. 17, with completion expected Thursday, Jan. 18.
In an effort to provide a safe and accessible experience for park visitors, portions of the park will be closed to public access, though most of the public parking, Robert E. Clark Pavilion, beach access and restrooms will remain open.
These dune walkovers will not be replaced at this time. Following the completion of the project, beach access will be provided at the walkover locations.
This project is not expected to impact access to Sharky’s restaurant.
