City Hall closed for Memorial Day/Ceremony set
Venice City Hall will be closed Monday, May 28 for the observance of the Memorial Day holiday.
There will be NO CHANGE in pickups for garbage, yard waste and recyclables. Residents are reminded to have their items to the curb by 7 a.m. (***Please note that information on the 2018 City of Venice physical calendar for May 28, stating trash will be collected on the next pickup day, is INCORRECT.)
In the event of Utilities service emergencies like a water line break, residents can call 941-486-2770. This line is designated for emergencies only.
American Legion NO-VEL Post 159 will host this year’s annual Memorial Day ceremony in Venice, along with participation by other local veterans organizations with color and honor guards. The ceremony takes place at 10 a.m. May 28 at Patriots Park, 800 Venetia Bay Blvd. (just north of U.S. 41 Bypass North and U.S. 41 Business). Guest speakers will include Vice Mayor Bob Daniels, Sarasota County Commissioner Charles Hines, and State Rep. Julio Gonzalez. The Suncoast Wind Ensemble will provide music. The public is invited to attend.
