Officers set up at the local bridges and the SSO helicopter was called in to search the area. The helicopter located the boat in the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) just north of the Albee Rd Bridge. Upon being spotlighted by the helicopter the boat began operating recklessly in an attempt to flee. City of Venice: A team of assessors from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) will arrive Tuesday, August 25, 2009 to examine all aspects of the Venice Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services, Chief Julie Williams announced today. The CFA Assessment Team Leader is Captain Dean Kelly, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Other team members are Lieutenant Daryl Daniels, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Ms. Cheryl Turner, Altamonte Springs Police Department.
Once the Commission’s assessors complete their review of the agency, they report back to the full Commission, which will then decide if the agency is to receive accredited status.
