Election

Candidate packets for the Venice City Council election that takes place Tuesday, Nov. 2, are now available at Venice City Hall.
 
Council member seats 5 and 6 and the mayor's seat 7 will be on the ballot. The first term for those current seat holders expires in November. A term is for three years. Each council member may serve three consecutive terms.
 
City Council candidates must be residents who have been registered to vote in the city for 12 consecutive months prior to Aug. 30, 2010. Potential candidates must make an appointment with City Clerk Lori Stelzer, MMC, by calling (941) 486-2626, ext. 23001, to review the Municipal Candidate Packet. She will explain rules and procedures and answer questions.
 

Qualifying week is Aug. 30 - Sept. 3, which is the deadline for all paperwork to be in place in order to run for office.
