The ARB is responsible for review and approval of architectural elements within the city’s Venetian Theme and Historic districts. The Architectural Guidelines Handbook
and Appendices
provides information pertaining to the specific design standards required in these districts.
The Construction Board of Adjustment and Appeals reviews proceedings brought against contractors who purposely violate codes and laws. A contractor believed to be in violation may also be required to appear before the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations.
Effective Oct. 1, 2007, all permits issued for the roof replacement on a single-family residence constructed prior to the implementation of the Florida Building Code (March 1, 2002) shall comply with the requirements of the Hurricane Mitigation Retrofit Manual (HMRM).
