The Building and Code Enforcement Department facilitates effective solutions for promoting the safety, health and welfare of the public. It administers all code enforcement issues as related to violations of the city of Venice code of ordinances. The department provides support for the following boards:

• Architectural Review Board
• Municipal Code Enforcement Board
• Construction Board of Adjustment and Appeals, which also acts as the licensing board for the purpose of disciplinary actions against contractors only.

Florida Building Codes and Standards:

The statewide code, 2007 Edition, was effective on March 1, 2009. The code with 2009 amendments incorporates building, residential, existing building, plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas, energy, accessibility, coastal, manufactured buildings, state agency codes, and the 2008 national electric code.
