Due to extreme drought conditions, Southwest Florida Water Management District (Swiftmud) has placed new restrictions on water usage. The changes are affective immediately.

Venice residents may irrigate or hand water lawns and landscaping on the following days, if needed:

Addresses ending in even numbers: Tuesday Addresses ending in odd numbers: Thursday

Hand watering hot spots and microirrigation of other plants is still allowed on other days.

New and replaced lawns get 30-day exemption

When replacing or establishing new lawns, they may be watered daily for the first 15 days.

During the next 15 days they may be watered according to the following schedule:

Addresses ending in even numbers only on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Addresses ending in odd numbers on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

ALL WATERING MUST BE DONE

BEFORE 8 A.M. OR AFTER 6 P.M.

Fountains and waterfalls: Limited to 4 hours of operation per day.

Reclaimed or reuse water is not affected by the changes, but residents are asked to conserve water whenever possible.

In accordance with Swiftmud mandates, the Venice Police Department will issue citations to violators.
